VRG Therapeutics (VRGTx) (VRG Therapeutics) is a pioneering biopharmaceutical R&D company headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. VRG Tx has a continuously growing R&D portfolio focused on innovative miniprotein-peptide based pharmaceuticals and Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) research programs. We are building a world-class AI-driven drug discovery platform with a singular mission: to cure diseases by targeting biological mechanisms that are inaccessible to traditional therapeutic approaches. Our discovery engine integrates machine learning, physics-based modeling, and experimental validation to design novel protein therapeutics.

Role Overview
  • Perform and document laboratory-scale peptide, miniprotein and recombinant protein preparation workflows, including sample preparation, purification, polishing and formulation-supporting activities
  • Operate and help optimize preparative chromatography and protein/peptide analytical methods such as ÄKTA/FPLC,RP/SEC/IEX/HIC/affinity chromatography, HPLC/UPLC-based assays and LC-MS-supporting workflows.
  • Support recombinant expression and purification workflows in prokaryotic and/or eukaryotic systems, including small-scale expression testing and process troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records, raw data files, protocols, sample/batch documentation and technical reports in a traceable format.
  • Review scientific literature, integrate experimental data and contribute practical solution options to project teams.
  • Apply modern data-analysis approaches where relevant, including AI-assisted analysis, sequencing/NGS-derived datasets and big-datae valuation
Required Qualifications
  • MSc or PhD degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical egineering, bioengineering or a related biomedical/natural science discipline.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industry research environment; protein/peptide work, purification or analytical characterization
  • Practical understanding of chromatography-based purification and analytical characterization of proteins, peptides or other biologics
Preferred Qualifications
  • ÄKTA/FPLC,preparative chromatography, RP-HPLC, SEC-HPLC, IEX/HIC/affinity chromatographyor LC-MS sample  preparation
  • Recombinant protein expression in E. coli, mammalian, yeast or insect systems; inclusion-body processing/refolding is an advantage
  • Gene design, cloning, expression-plasmid construction or gene-editing workflows supporting recombinant protein production
  • NGS/sequencing data evaluation, AI-supported scientific workflows or big-data analysis
  • Peptide/miniprotein chemistry, oxidative folding, lyophilization, binding assays or functional potency assays knowledge is an advantage.
Personal Attributes
  • Ability to work independently, recognize technical problems and clear result communication
  • Strong documentation discipline, sample tracking and raw-data handling
  • Precision, reliability and ownership in laboratory work, documentation and data interpretation.
  • Result-oriented, flexibility and proactive problem-solving mindset with ability to adopt new technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support effective work across a multidisciplinary team
Development Opportunities
  • The opportunity to work on best-in-class and first-in-class therapeutic concepts
  • A highly collaborative, science-driven international culture with strong academic and industry roots
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience
  • Professional growth in biologics R&D, protein analytics, recombinant protein production and preparative purification.
  • Opportunity to build an individual scientific career path, including PhD studies for MSc-level candidates or PhD-level research ownership as aligned with the candidate and company goals.
